Dash Platform launched 09-02-2024

It is with great excitement I can finally say that Dash Platform has launched. The genesis quorum was formed and was successful in creating the genesis block and starting the Platform Chain. The chain is now producing blocks and will hopefully continue through the first epoch.

On the platform chain an epoch is defined by exactly 219 hours, which equates to 9.125 days and we expect 40 epochs a year. During each epoch evonodes are responsible for producing blocks and keeping track of identities, data contracts, and documents. With Dash Platform being able to host these things on chain there is also storage costs associated which evonodes charge platform users these fees are calculated during each epoch. There is also now something called an Era. An Era is equivalent to 40 epochs. Funds that are locked in platform are used to pay evonodes at the end of each epoch.
